Pine vs Cypress for Your Tiki Hut Frame

We use pressure treated pine as our standard framing material for tiki huts across Florida. It's strong, durable, and handles humidity and rain very well when the build is done correctly. Pressure treated pine is also more readily available and cost-effective, which helps keep your project on budget without sacrificing longevity.

Cypress is a beautiful, naturally rot-resistant wood that some homeowners prefer for its look and tradition. We can source and build with cypress on request. Keep in mind that cypress is typically more expensive, and the quality of available cypress has varied in recent years. We'll give you an honest assessment of options when you quote.

Either way, the structure is built to Florida code and designed to last. The thatch roof will need re-thatching every 3โ€“5 years (or never with synthetic); the frame, whether pine or cypress, should last decades with basic care.
